The Federal Republic Military
The military is divided up into several branches, the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force. The Military frequently works hand in hand with CTU more than any other federal agency.
Army
The number of active and reserve duty personnel currently stands at 7 million. The army dates back to the early 17th century, created in 1721 shortly after the change of leadership and government for Mk Steele. Today the military maintains peace and order for the nation from its enemies,
Navy
Created as early as 1517 the navy was first utilized as merchant ships with armed sailors and militia to protect precious cargo. It later expanded on the idea to create better ships made specifically to ward off pirates and enemies. Today the navy has 1 million active duty personnel.
Coast Guard
The Coast Guard was created alongside the Navy to protect the coast and ward off any illegal activities, in 2007 due to the redundancy of having separate naval forces the Coast Guard was absorbed under the Navy as a sub division.
Marines
The Federal Marines were first ordinary sailors who were armed with muskets on ships before the idea came for having professionally trained soldiers and seamen do the job instead. They soon came to be known as Marines for their extensive time spent at sea as soldiers but were not sailors either. The Marines stand at 1.1 million strong.
Air Force
Having been formed in 1850 due to having the airplane invented 17 years prior, the government saw it as a potential new idea for having the upper hand in battles. Now the Air Force is the second most technologically advanced branch of the military coming in after the Army. They stand at 1 million strong.
